Our Impact
Financial literacy is changing lives — and we can prove it.
Why Our
Impact Matters
Financial literacy is not a luxury — it is stability, confidence, and the power to rewrite family legacies.
Yet most families, especially ALICE and underserved households, have never received financial education that is accessible, culturally relevant, and shame-free.
Our programs close that gap through hands-on learning, storytelling, coaching, and real-world practice. No shame. No jargon. Just transformational learning for every generation.

Stories of Change
Parent:
“After the Budget DOES IT workshop, my kids came home excited to talk about money. We opened savings accounts, and now we set goals together as a family.”
Adult Coaching Participant:
“This helped me understand budgeting and finally stop overspending. Now my kids and I set goals together, and we’re saving as a family.”
Michael Gulley, COO, Boys & Girls Clubs
“Financial literacy touches on a variety of important aspects central to Club programs. It helps our members develop critical thinking, decision-making, and long-term planning skills and empowers them to envision their own financial success. I’m grateful to Janasha and her team at Mahogany & Friends for their partnership and leadership in this important program.”

Equity at Our Core
Most families we serve are ALICE, underserved, or underrepresented. Our work is designed to remove barriers to financial education—not reinforce them.
We intentionally:
-
Meet families in trusted community spaces
-
Design materials that reflect participants’ cultures and lived experiences
-
Offer programs at free or subsidized cost through partners and funders
-
Support youth, caregivers, and returning citizens who are rebuilding their financial lives

A Young Nonprofit with
Growing Impact

Mahogany & Friends Foundation launched as a nonprofit in 2024. In a short time, we’ve reached hundreds of youth and families, built strong community partnerships, and seen consistent demand for deeper programming.
With support from partners and funders, we are scaling our programs, expanding adult coaching, and growing the High Five Savings Challenge to reach even more families.
